Role summary

We are looking for an investment professional who has mastered the art of developing long-term relationships and enjoys collaborative work. As the ideal candidate, with a minimum of 10 years of experience and the relevant academic background, you have in-depth knowledge of the financial markets and excellent communication skills. You have achieved a degree of recognition within the institutional portfolio management industry and embrace the firm’s culture of entrepreneurship and excellence.

 

The Vice President will work with the firm’s portfolio management team and other units to offer clients a distinctive, relevant experience. From the standpoint of technology and relationships, you will provide sophisticated service tailored to the needs of an institutional clientele of global stature. You will also contribute to networking initiatives, relationships with consultants, and marketing and solicitation to ensure the firm’s growth.

Primary responsibilities

Client servicing

  • Act as a resource person and respond to client requests quickly and accurately, with assistance from the support team.
  • Strengthen relations with the main client contacts in a spirit of partnership.
  • Organize periodic meetings and calls for follow-up on mandates and due diligence of clients and their advisors.
  • Take part in producing literature for effective communication of key messages concerning markets, returns and our main strategic positions.

Business development

  • Establish and develop business relationships with potential clients, consultants and other industry stakeholders.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the requirements of our target clientele, business opportunities and the competitive context.
  • Act as an ambassador for the portfolio management team to different market segments, such as pension funds, foundations, consultants, insurers and other platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of presentations and other promotional materials.
  • Along with the support team, complete submission requests, service offerings and follow-up surveys.
  • Take part in developing and delivering finalist presentations.
  • Represent Hexavest at industry conferences and events.
  • Organize visibility and promotional events for the firm’s clients, consultants and prospects.
  • Monitor the industry to identify new trends and other relevant information.

Experience and qualifications

  • University degree in a related discipline, such as finance, actuarial science or accounting.
  • CFA designation or Canadian Investment Manager designation (fulfillment of the AMF’s education and experience requirements for the certificate of Advising Representative of a Portfolio Manager)
  • More than 10 years of relevant experience in client service with institutional investors, consulting or market monitoring (any combination of relevant education and experience will be considered)
  • Knowledge of portfolio management, the macroeconomic environment and global equity markets
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the utmost professionalism
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and French
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Analytical skills, sense of initiative and self-sufficiency
  • Willingness to travel frequently

Sommaire du poste

Nous sommes à la recherche d’un professionnel talentueux pour combler un poste permanent de développeur logiciel principal au sein de l’équipe de développement informatique. Cette équipe est composée de 7 spécialistes en programmation (C#) et base de données (SQL Server). Elle est responsable du développement et du soutien des applications utilisées par Hexavest.

 

Le développeur logiciel principal prend part à toutes les étapes du développement de logiciels : analyse d’affaire, architecture, programmation, tests, mise en production et soutien aux usagers. Il se spécialise toutefois dans les aspects suivants :

 

  • Ddéterminer les orientations d’architecture pour le choix et la mise en place des solutions technologiques;
  • Participer à la réalisation des projets en tant que programmeur et leader technique;
  • Contribuer à la résolution de problèmes d’ingénierie logiciel complexes;
  • Développer des algorithmes capables de supporter une charge importante et croissante;
  • Encourager la mise en place des meilleures pratiques en développement de logiciels;
  • Assurer la viabilité, la fonctionnalité et l’intégrité de l’architecture des solutions;
  • Exercer une vigie des pratiques exemplaires et des technologies disponibles et en émergence afin d’assurer la pérennité des solutions en place.

Expérience et qualifications

  • Au moins 10 ans d’expérience pertinente
  • Diplôme universitaire de 1er ou 2e cycle dans une discipline pertinente (informatique, génie logiciel, mathématiques-informatique, etc.)
  • Connaissance approfondie de C# et des bases de données relationnelles (T-SQL)
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication
